On this At the Symphony, Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Associate Conductor Geoffrey Robson takes us through Mendelssohn's "The Hebrides," Op. 26 “Fingal’s Cave;” Grieg's "Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16;" and, Borodin's "Symphony No. 2 in B minor." From the ASO's program notes: Grieg was the first Norwegian composer to win an international reputation. This marvellous concerto is his only outstanding large-scale creation. The newly-married composer spent the summer of 1868 in Denmark, living and working in the village of Søllerød. He shared a house with pianist Edmund Neupert, who gave him regular advice on the concerto’s solo part, and to whom, in gratitude, he dedicated it.
